The best marketing… doesn’t feel like marketing
But how do you do it?
LFG
👇
1. Live it
Last week, I was at the Austin Proper Hotel (opens in a new tab) with some buddies.
Part way through the night, we met some ladies.
One of them popped a white tablet into her mouth.
”What’s that?” I said.
”Oh, it’s a nicotine mint.”
”Can I try one?”
”Of course!”
We then spent the next 30 minutes talking about the benefits of nicotine.
Turns out her fiancé started the business (opens in a new tab).
And she is the marketing manager for the product.
”Genius” I thought to myself.
- She didn’t push.
- She didn’t promote.
- She didn’t set up a booth.
She is living the brand.
What are you doing to live your brand?
2. Value first
Last week, I attended a Bio-Hacking conference (opens in a new tab) as a podcast host.
They wanted me to interview some of their keynote speakers.
”Of course!” I thought to myself.
An opportunity to interview interesting people for my show.
- They connected me to the guest.
- They coordinated the time.
- They setup the equipment.
All I had to do was show up and do what I do best.
Interview people.
Before I sat down to interview them, they had one request.
”If you could mention this event on the show, that would be great.”
”Genius” I thought to myself.
They showered me with value first.
And then made the ask.
What are you doing to give before you get?
3. Experience
A matcha energy drink (opens in a new tab) company slid into my DMs recently.
They offered to send me some free product.
”Hell yeah!” I thought to myself.
All I had to do was give them my mailing address.
- No email.
- No shout out.
- No affiliate link.
I drank one before a workout last week.
No lie… I loved it.
And now, here I am talking about it.
”Genius” I thought to myself.
They let me experience their product first.
They let me decide if I was a “yes” or a “no.”
What are you doing to let your customers experience what you have to offer?
Take home point…
- Live your brand.
- Give value first.
- Let people experience your product or service.
My interview with Mark Springer inspired this email.
Next week, you’ll learn how an occupational therapist became a gut health expert.
